Best of 2011

In 2011 I traveled for almost every wedding that I shot.  Traveling is an important part of my work as seeing and experiencing other places is a major source of inspiration for me.  To date, I have traveled to Bali, Bermuda, The Bahamas, Cabo San Lucas, Aruba, Jamaica, Vancouver, Costa Rica and all over the U.S.  I am enriched with each experience and see things just a little differently each time I return.  On a personal note, my 2011 was filled with the wonderful messiness that happens to all of us but most times try to avoid.  The ups and downs of this life are inevitable and necessary.  I rarely rejoice in the midst of any, as I see it, trial, but many times long after, I recall it being a time of growth.  This year was no different.  2011 was wrought with ‘opportunities’ for such rejoicing, and though I failed at almost every turn to do so, I sit here as I write this rejoicing in my Father and the fact that it isn’t my job to be perfect.  For the first time in my life I can honestly say that I am content with the mess that He created, known as Erik Clausen.  I am that imperfect beautiful mess, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.  My recap of the year would not be complete without mention of a few important people.  1st, my wife Destiny.  Thank you for your love and support, despite my stubbornness.  2nd, Otto.  Thank you for being my brother.  3rd, Bradford.  You’re an amazing man, and so much more to me than an awesome photographer.  Here are some of my favorite frames taken in 2011, and here’s to a spectacular 2012!

Art Wedding Photography Trends « Tom's Art Photo Blog - […] Don’t get me wrong, I’m not 100% against it…. as a matter of fact I happen to really enjoy it when done “properly”. I think Poser Images does a wonderful job at using this current trend in our society and yet still capturing something modern, unique, and fun. Others that I have seen will take current trends and MURDER them… over using it and making it tired. But here is a link to the wonderful images that I do enjoy and believe use this trend appropriately http://www.iamaposer.com/?p=8594 […]
